I am from Val-des-Bois in the Outaouais region of Quebec. I completed my university studies at the Université de Montréal (B.sc. in biochemistry and Ph.D. in molecular biology). After defending my thesis on protein folding under the supervision of Stephen Michnick, I did a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Michel Desjardins where I contributed to studies on the biogenesis of the macrophage phagosome. I then joined the molecular microbial pathogenesis team led by Philippe Sansonetti at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. There I learned all the basics of Shigella infection and host-pathogen interactions. Since 2015, I have been leading the IMH lab in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Ottawa. We combine different approaches to study microbe-host interactions. Je suis originaire de Val-des-Bois dans l’Outaouais québécois. J’ai effectué mes études universitaires à l’Université de Montréal (B.sc. en biochimie et Ph.D. en biologie moléculaire). Après avoir soutenu ma thèse sur le repliement des protéines sous la supervision de Stephen Michnick, j’ai effectué un stage postdoctoral dans le laboratoire de Michel Desjardins où j’ai contribué à des études sur la biogénèse du phagosome des macrophages. J’ai ensuite rejoint l’équipe de pathogénie microbienne moléculaire dirigée par Philippe Sansonetti à l’Institut Pasteur de Paris. J’y ai appris toutes les bases de l’infection par Shigella et des interactions hôtes-pathogène. Depuis 2015, je dirige le laboratoire IMH au sein du département de chimie et de sciences biomoléculaires de l’Université d’Ottawa. Nos combinons différentes approches pour étudier les interactions microbes-hôte.
